Victoria Beckham talks about his time at Madrid: "Spain is more difficult if you're a woman"

She has confessed in an interview with the magazine Harper's Bazzar that several years spent living in Madrid not only affected her but also her marriage. "Spain appreciated me a little. The United States are based on quality, it's no important if you're male or female, but in Spain it's more difficult if you are woman."

In the Galaxy/Chivas game Landon converted the PK that put his team through. He was fantastic in the game.
He did the "stanky leg" for Charlie Davies.  <3s

ROBERT ENKE
(24 August 1977 – 10 November 2009)

Though many of you may not know about or watch the bundesliga, though many of you may not support the German national team, and though he was not fangirled, and though he was not someone we have tags for, for those who had the opportunity to watch him in action Robert Enke was immense. But all of you know the type of player he was. Robert Enke was the player that gave everything for the team.

He was a formidable goalkeeper, a dedicated captain, a worthy representative of his club and country, a loyal team member, a great tutor to young players (Per Mertesacker evolved to Mannschaft-class with Enke at his back), a dedicated social campaigner (against disease and cruelty against animals) and a true gentleman in any way one could possible imagine.

If one looks at the community of German goalkeepers as a whole, Enke stood out. Among all those egomaniac bastards, there was one who wouldn't throw temper tantrums into cameras, insult his contenders, hit opponent defenders, accuse ball-boys of losing his teams matches, take helicopters to training, screw around behind the back of his wife.

It is only unfortunate that he will finally be recognized by all of us within our community in the tragedy of his death.

Rest in Peace.

ETA: Thank you all for your kind words, thoughts and appreciation; simulatenously this or any tribute could do no justice to a man's life. Nevertheless, I will direct you to Hannover's webpage who have managed a far more fitting tribute than I. More pictures of the vigil are available here.

US forward Davies released from hospital

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Charlie Davies, severely injured in a car crash last month after helping the United States qualify for the World Cup, was released from hospital on Tuesday after four weeks of treatment and recovery.

The 23-year-old forward was a passenger in a vehicle that crashed on a parkway in suburban Washington, where the US squad stayed ahead of a 2-2 draw with Costa Rica after a qualifying victory in Honduras had secured a Cup berth.

It was just confirmed by the boss of Hannover 96, Martin Kind.

No details yet.

I heard it on the radio a couple of minutes ago, and several German sources bring it as newsflash.

Edit: There are indeed several sources, including the Berliner Morgenpost, that state it is supposed to have been suicide.

Sources:
1, 2, 3.

The n-tv newsflash says Robert's agent confirmed that it was suicide.

Ruhe in Frieden.

Nicked from [info]sophiamoon because I think it might be interesting:

1) Explain your username.
"Dr" because of my glasses, "Bill" because of my nose, and "Bongo" because of that Manu Chao song. It's all my brother's fault. ;)

2) When did you join LJ?
Way back in 2004.

3) How often do you log in?
Pretty nearly every day.

4) Have you ever met any of your LJ-friends in person?
Loads of them! There's a list in my profile, in case anyone is interested in the names.

5) Do you have any of your LJ-friends on facebook?
I'm not on Facebook. One social network is more than enough for me. *LOL*

6) Are most of the people you watch artists or authors?
Authors.

7) How many friends on your lists are banned/suspended/deleted etc?
I only ban trolls, not friends, and I usually remove deleted/inactive journals from my flist, so NONE.

8) Do you comment on everything you like?
Almost. Sometimes I just don't have the time to write the comment a post deserves, and I'm very sorry about that.

9. Is there anyone who has commented on each and every created post of yours in your LJ?
No. That would be kind of scary, actually.

10) Who are the people you go to for help if you're not sure about what you're written/drawn?
Thankfully I have several friends who I can turn to for help, for instance [info]sophiamoon, [info]sebastiona, [info]secondratestar and [info]casi_casi. ♥

11) Your favourite writer on LJ?
Impossible to name just one, even if I just look at the football fandom. In general, I like authors who write long fics with lots of plot, or those who write many different pairings and do every single one well. I do realise I have to mention a couple of names, so here goes: [info]abbeydale, [info]aguardente, [info]casi_casi, [info]cheryl_bites, [info]dfotw, [info]finnygan, [info]lhuneldaiel, [info]mira_miracle, [info]ombu_tree, [info]parvardigar , [info]sebastiona, [info]secondratestar, [info]sophiamoon, [info]stern_suedens, [info]zoemargaret. These are the ones who could write anything, even a pairing that doesn't interest me, and I'll read (and usually enjoy) what they've written.

12) Your favourite artist on LJ?
[info]black_hound and [info]porridgebird. They're AMAZING. Unfortunately they don't do football fanart. *cries buckets* ;)

13) Are you considered an influential artist/Writer in your fandom/genre?
*snorts* Yeah, right.

14) Have you deliberately not watched someone on LJ even if you stalk all their stuff?
No, I'm pretty honest about whose journals I read and whose I don't read.

15) Do you think you have enemies on LJ?
Enemies might be a bit too strong a word, but I'm sure there are people out there who can't stand me for my rants about grammar mistakes. (As long as there's still a shitload of fics in which simple grammar rules aren't obeyed, I won't stop ranting, though.)

16) Do you think you'll still be on LJ this time next year?
As if I could ever leave this place. ;)
